1. What is Bullfrog Power and how does it work?
Bullfrog Power is a leading provider of 100% green electricity, servicing the Ontario and Alberta marketplace. All of Bullfrog Power's electricity comes from generation facilities, like Sky Generation's wind farm, that have met the Canadian federal government's Environmental Choice Program EcoLogoM standard for renewable power. Their current electricity mix comprises 20% wind power and 80% low-impact hydroelectric power.
2. Do you use push (aka reel) mowers?
No. We use electric mulching mowers because they chop your clippings into a fine mulch. The clippings quickly decompose on your lawn, providing nutrients for the grass. Reel mowers leave clippings as full blades, and over the course of the summer they can accumulate and choke the growing grass, causing more harm then good. Reel mowers also work in only perfect conditions - dry uniform grass. This is fine for someone who maintains there own lawn and can mow on there own schedule. The nature of our business demands that we provide a timely and consistent service, regardless of conditions. Our mowers are commercial grade, and can perform in almost any weather.
3. Are your batteries recyclable?
Yes, lead-acid battery recycling is one of the most successful recycling programs in the world, with over 97% of all batteries made from recycled bi-product.
4. How are the trimmers and leaf blowers powered?
ecocut uses battery-powered trimmers and blowers, recharged using Bullfrog Power.
5. How are your aerators, de-thatchers and heavy equipment powered?
Due to the amount of power required to run some equipment, we have converted a few machines to run on propane. Our converted machines provides a 6X reduction in carbon monoxide output and creates 50% less CO2 emissions.
6. How quiet is the equipment, especially the leaf blowers?
Statistics Canada has estimated that our battery-powered machines are up to 25% quieter than traditional gasoline-powered machines. This is the decimal difference between someone talking to you versus yelling in your ear.
Sometimes, in the fall we use plug in and propane powered blowers - which do make more noise. If you do not want this equipment used on our yard, please contact us.
7. What kind of vehicles do you use?
We drive natural gas powered vehicles and small sub compact cars. We arrange our schedule to minimize the amount of driving we do.
9. What type of fertilizer and lawn care products do you use?
We use only organic fertilizers, compost, and corn gluten.
10. Is battery powered equipment strong enough?
Our customers think so! And so do we.
